Make sure that your room is comfortable. If there is too much noise getting into your bedroom consider getting a white noise machine or earplugs. If you can, make your bedroom a bedroom by having a room with a bed and nothing else in it. If possible make your bedroom your bedroom. Preferably, you want a room, which does not have any television or computer. If you have an office/bedroom you may sneak yourself into your computer to get “a few things done”. Before you know it, you’re spending hours not sleeping. Having a bedroom “sanctuary” also keeps your minds off of things.

Make your alarm clock invisible by turning it away from you. Not only will this make the room more dark, it will keep you from being anxious about how fast you are going to fall asleep. Forcing yourself to fall asleep will actually make the problem worse. This is why it is recommended that if you are lying awake, to get up and then go back to bad once you are feeling tired.

It’s better that your room is a little too cold rather than a little too hot.

Don’t gorge or have a big meal right before your bedtime. Have some nice warm milk and some cookies instead! If you absolutely must have something to eat before bed, avoid food with lots of carbohydrates.

Exercise, but not right before your bedtime. The key to falling asleep fast is to put your mind and body into a relaxed state. Going for a jog an hour before you go to sleep is not going to make you more relaxed. Using up energy during the day will make you more tired at night. Just make sure that you are not doing it close to your bedtime.

If you are thinking about things you need to do tomorrow and don’t want to forget, get up and write them down on a piece of paper so that you don’t have to go over them in your mind.

Do not take caffeine, alcohol, or nicotine. Don’t drink caffeine for around 10 hours before you go to sleep. It’s hard to get asleep when you’re all buzzed up. If you must have a soda, make sure that it’s decaffeinated. Speaking from experience, I once drank 2 cups of Pepsi before I “went to sleep”. Needless to stay, I had a very long night.

Try not to get into arguments with family members of friends before you go to bed. This is pretty self explanatory.

Try taking a nice warm bath before you go to sleep. This will relax you. Just make sure that when you do it not to close to your bed time because your heart rate goes up in warm water.

Drink a warm cup of milk, maybe with some honey added in. Just make sure that you still brush your teeth before you go to bed or else the milk and/or honey will start rotting your teeth away.

How to fall asleep fast and easy with sleeping pills…

Okay. So what if you tried these things and you still can’t fall asleep fast. Benzodiazepines are recommended for insomniacs who have tried everything else. What they will do is give you light sleep, not the “deep” sleep that you want. Non-benzodiazepines drugs are sleeping pills, which work incredibly well. You just have to make sure that you take them as described because they can be addictive.

Don’t listen to music, watch TV (if it’s really boring and helps you doze off, go ahead and watch it), or browse the web before you sleep. Not only are these things addictive, but they make your mind go in all sorts of directions. Entertaining yourself is effective, but only if it is boring, thus focusing your mind on something mundane and predictable, rather than the thoughts roaming around in your head. For example, you can watch a small scene from a movie that you’ve seen a billion times. My personal favorite is watching the last scene of Titanic.

Buy some ambient music. These type of sound tracks contain natural sound effects, such as ocean waves and a jungle. If you’re like me and love falling asleep to some light rain, there are many rain soundtracks out there. If you search for “Ambient Music” on Amazon, you are going to find a lot of results. Some of the CDs you see here are made specifically to help you fall asleep. Aside from making you fall asleep, they can chill you out and relax you.

How to fall asleep fast? If you don’t get enough shuteye you’re going to be irritable, stressed out, and have a less ability to focus. Yes, there are drugs out there, which can help you fall asleep. But before you do so you need to know that there are natural ways, which can help you fall asleep fast. Everyone has had some sort of problem trying to fall asleep. For some, the problem is more serious. We lay awake thinking about god knows what and just can’t put ourselves to sleep. What’s one to do? Before you buy some sleeping pills, here are some tips on how to fall asleep faster.

Tips on how to fall asleep fast naturally…

Do not take naps during the day. Doing so will simply make you more awake at night.

Have a set time for you to go to sleep. Preferably you want your set time to be early. Let’s say you have a habit of going to sleep at midnight. Start making it a habit of going to sleep at 10:00 p.m. Although you may not fall asleep immediately once you change your time, after a while, you body “clock” will start to adjust and you will fall asleep at 10:00 p.m. rather than at midnight. Doing this enough will set back your biological clock so that you can fall asleep faster.

Turn off your lights before you go to sleep or dim them if you can. What I personally do is turn off all my lights and use my cell phone as a flashlight to help me get around.

If you are thinking about “I have to do this tomorrow…can’t forget about the homework assignment…wonder what grade I’ll get…what does my boss think of my work…”, make a list of things that you are thinking about so that you don’ have to keep on thinking about them.

How to fall asleep? All of us have experienced symptoms of insomnia. In fact, a strong minority of adults experience it each week. If you are considering taking sleeping pills, before you do so, there are ways to fall asleep fast without them. In fact, you need to make lifestyle changes a priority rather than relying solely on sleeping pills because drugs do not come without side effects.

How to fall asleep at night & how to fall asleep instantly

Sleeping pills are recommended only as a short-term solution. Although they may get you immediate results, over time, the effects of it will start to wear off. You may also become addicted to some forms of sleeping pills and have issues once you stop taking them because your body is used to them. Furthermore, with some types of sleeping pills you’ll have symptoms such as feeling tired and drowsy.

Depending on the severity of your insomnia however, there are pills on the market, which are not habit forming. Furthermore, there are pills, which are not habit forming and do not leave you feeling drowsy. You need to talk to your doctor to see what’s available for your situation. Despite this, there is no perfect sleeping pill out there. Some pills only give you a light sleep and others put you into a very deep sleep. As such, if you want more sleep, it is recommended that you only occasionally use them so that you don’t get their side effects. Use them once in a while and you should be fine.

Here are some long-term solutions to help you get more sleep…

Make your room comfortable. If you are not falling asleep fast you may just have to invest in a new mattress. Maybe your mattress is too small if you’re sleeping with someone else. If you have noise going into your bedroom, consider getting a white noise machine or earplugs. If there is light going into your room, consider getting a sleeping mask. You may want to consider getting a sleeping mask or a white noise machine even if there isn’t that much light or noise because some of us, including myself, are more sensitive to it that others.

Exercise, but not 4 or so hours before you go to sleep. The more energy you use up during the day, the more tired and ready to sleep you’ll be come bedtime. If you exercise close to your bedtime, your mind and body will not be in a relaxed state.

Read a book. It helps many people relax and fall asleep.

How to fall asleep easier: If your mind is wandering, thinking about this and that, change your focus. Yes, that means counting sheep. If you prefer, you can focus your mind on really mundane or boring. The key is to keep it simple! Yes, I know it’s hard to keep things simple in a complex world such as ours, but do your best to relax.

An hour or so before your bedtime, dim or turn off the lights.

What’s the best sleeping pill that you can buy? Before I get into this you should know that sleeping pills are not some magic potion, which you can use everyday for the rest of your life. Sure, you can use it as often as you want, but sooner or later, with any type of sleeping pill, you are going to develop a tolerance to it, be dependent on it, feel drowsy the next day, and/or have other side effects if you use it long enough. As such, there really is no “best sleeping pill” out there. Yes, those sleeping pill commercials look very appealing with their imagery and music, but we need to realize that the side effects mentioned in the same commercial are not things to ignore or glance over at. Let’s take a look at the Lunesta commercial.

Lunesta

In it they say that “most sleep medicines carry some risk of dependency” and “side effects may include unpleasant taste, headache, drowsiness, and dizziness”. Of course, when you’re watching this Lunesta commercial you are probably thinking that this is the best sleeping pill to take. Ignore the imagery, pretty actor, and smiles. Lunesta will help, but it should not be your long term solution. There are long-term ways to help you fall asleep, which you have to explore.

All of the side effects of Lunesta are common side effects of all sleeping pills. Here are the top sleeping pill types:

Best over the counter sleeping pill?

Because everyone’s body is different, what may work well for one may not work well for another. Side effects vary from person to person as well. So, although there may be no best OTC sleeping pill, here are some options…

OTC sleeping drugs include antihistamines of which there are four types (Diphenhydramine, Doxylamine, Hydroxyzine, and Promethazine). Diphenhydramine, for example, includes the brand names Nytol and Unisom. Doxylamine, for example, includes the brand names Somnil, Donormyl, Unisom-2, and Dozile. Medications containing Doxylamine have been found to be extremely effective in helping people get to sleep faster.

What is the best sleeping pill in terms of prescription strength drug?

Again, like OTC sleep drugs, there is no simple answer. What works for one may not work for another. When your doctor prescribes you a drug he or she is more concerned about what active ingredients are in it. In terms of prescription drugs, there are two chemicals, Benzodiazepine and non-benzodiazepine. Generally, Benzodiazepine is for sufferers of severe insomnia and non-benzodiazepine is for those who have moderate insomnia. Brand names for benzodiazepine include Restoril, Halcion, and ProSom. Brand names for non-benzodiazepine sedative hypnotics include Ambien and Lunesta. Regardless of which brand or type of prescription sleeping pill you take, there is no “best sleeping pill”.

How to fall asleep quickly? Yes, there are long-term life style changes that you should make (this would include exercising and eating/drinking habits), but if you want to know how to fall asleep immediately, sleeping pills will do the trick. Keep in mind, however, that they are recommended to be used every once in a while unless your insomnia is severe. Otherwise, there is a risk that you are going to be dependent on sleeping drugs to get you to sleep or, if you use them long enough, their effect will start to wear off. What are your sleeping pill options?

Over the counter OTC Sleeping Pills: They help its users fall asleep, but are not as strong as their prescription strength counterparts.

Some doctors prescribe antidepressants as well as other drugs because they have a sedative effect. However, they have the same exact side effects as their prescription sleeping pill counterparts. Melatonin, a hormone, is also prescribed by doctors and is an option because it doesn’t seem to have risks of dependency.

Benzodiazepines

If your insomnia or sleep deprivation is really severe, there’s a good chance that your doctor will prescribe to you a benzodiazepine. Although this type of medication will knock you out, it will get you into a light sleep. As such, its users often wake tired and drowsy because they didn’t get the full natural sleep level. With these types of drugs tolerance, dependency, as well as other side effects often occur. Brand names of this type of sleeping pill drug include ProSum, Dalmane, and Doral.

Nonbenzodiazepine

These types of drugs have the same side effects as their benzodiazepines counterpart except on a lower scale. Exactly how less the side effects are is not yet known. Furthermore, nobody knows if there are any side effects from the long-term use of this drug. Some types of nonbenzodiazepine increase your risk of depression. To prevent rebound withdrawal (which are serious side effects from the abrupt stoppage of use of the medication) Nonbenzodiazepine is taken in slightly lower and lower doses until it is not needed anymore. Lunesta, which you may very well have seen commercials of, is a nonbenzodiazepine.

Keep in mind that with both prescription drugs, even the newer nonbenzodiazepine, there is the chance of dependency and daytime drowsiness. Aside from OTC sleeping pill drugs, prescription drugs, and melatonin, there are other medications, which your doctor can tell you about and can thus help solve the age-old problem of how to fall asleep quickly.
